1. "摸鱼" mō yú 🤚🐟 🤚🐠 🤚🐡 to goof off (at work)
摸鱼,形容上班时间偷懒,不认真工作。
mō yú, xíngróng shàngbān shíjiān tōulǎn, bù rènzhēn gōngzuò.
“Rubbing fish” describes someone goofing off at work, not working seriously.
How to Use
“我今天上班的时候摸鱼看微博,后来被老板发现了...“
“wǒ jīntiān shàngbān de shíhòu mō yú kàn wēi bó, hòulái bèi lǎobǎn fāxiànle...“
Today at work I “rubbed fish” looking at Webio, afterwards I was discovered by my boss.
“为什么同事都说我是工作狂,我其实最喜欢摸鱼,不想上班了"
“Wèishéme tóngshì dōu shuō wǒ shì gōngzuò kuáng, wǒ qíshí zuì xǐhuān mō yú, bùxiǎng shàngbānle"
Why do my coworkers call me a workaholic, I actually just like to “rub fish,” I don’t like to go to work.
2. "辣眼睛" là yǎnjīng 🌶 👀 😅 Stings my eyes
辣眼睛,形容不应该看或者不好看的东西。
là yǎnjīng, xíngróng bù yìng gāi kàn huòzhě bù hǎokàn de dōngxī.
“Stings my eyes” describes something that one shouldn’t look at or something that’s ugly.
How to Use
“这个广告真的很恶心,太辣眼睛了!“
“zhège guǎnggào zhēn de hěn ěxīn, tài là yǎnjīng le!“
This advertisement is so gross, it “stings my eyes!”
“我今天的打扮很辣眼睛,太丑了哈哈“
“Wǒ jīntiān de dǎbàn hěn là yǎn jīng, tài chǒule hāhā “
Today I dressed up in a really “stings my eyes” [kind of way], so ugly haha!”
3. “打call” dǎ call 🙌 🥳 🥳 🤩 Cheer for sb.
”打call“ 表达一种赞成、支持的态度。“为 X 打call” = “我为 X 加油”、“我支持 X 的意思。
” Dǎ call“biǎodá yī zhǒng zànchéng, zhīchí de tàidù.“
“Make a call” expresses an attitude of approval or support for something. To “make a call for X” means “I’m rooting for X” or “I support X.“
How to Use
“Justin Bieber的新歌好好听,为他疯狂打call!“
“Justin Bieber de xīngē hǎohǎo tīng, wèi tā fēngkuáng dǎ call!“
Justin Bieber’s new song is so good, I crazily “make a call” for him!
"哇你最近好自律啊,为你打call!“
"Wa nǐ zuìjìn hǎo zìlǜ a, wèi nǐ dǎ call!“
Wa you’re so disciplined these days, I “make a call” for you!
4. "柠檬精" níngméng jīng 🍋 👿 🍋 Lemon goblin
“柠檬精”形容一个嫉妒的人。
“níngméng jīng” xíngróng yīgè jídù de rén.
“Lemon goblin” describes someone who is jealous.
“我柠檬精了” = “我羡慕了”。
“wǒ níngméng jīngle” = “wǒ xiànmùle”.
I’m “lemon goblin” = “I’m jealous.”
How to Use
“看到她的男朋友那么帅,我柠檬精了。”
“Kàn dào tā de nán péngyǒu nàme shuài, wǒ níngméng jīng le.”
“Her boyfriend is so handsome, I’m “lemon goblin.”
“为什么你一看到别人成功,就变成了柠檬精呢 ? “
“Wèishéme nǐ yī kàn dào biérén chénggōng, jiù biàn chéngle níngméng jīng ne? “
“Why is it that as soon as you see someone succeeding, you become a “lemon goblin?”
5. “丧” sàng 😔😵🥱 to feel dejected
“丧”,形容态度消极、情绪消沉、难过。
sàng, xíngróng tàidù xiāojí, qíngxù xiāochén, nánguò.
Describes someone who has a negative attitude, with depressed and sad mood.
How to Use
“他昨天刚分手,心情不好,状态比较丧“
“tā zuótiān gāng fēnshǒu, xīnqíng bù hǎo, zhuàngtài bǐjiào sàng“
He had a breakup yesterday, he’s in a bad mood, he’s pretty “dejected.”
"我最近很丧,不想健身,不想学习,只想吃和睡觉“
"Wǒ zuìjìn hěn sàng, bùxiǎng jiànshēn, bùxiǎng xuéxí, zhǐ xiǎng chī hé shuìjiào“
These days I’m pretty “dejected,” I don’t want to work out, don’t want to study, I just want to eat and sleep.
